I had recently participated in the Prayogshaala Bootcamp , which is a comprehensive bootcamp to learn applied and technical skills and better equip oneself to thrive in the technology industry focusing on engineering college girls such as myself. I was a part of the 3rd cohort.

So the batches are called cohorts here which basically means a group of people with shared characteristics/interests

I have always wanted to be a part of something which solely focused on girls who were graduating in engineering streams because we do have a lot of issues !! Haha! Being a first-gen undergrad, I was always in search of the perfect mentor who could guide me and teach me the ropes of the industry and Lakshya Sivaramakrishnan is definitely one of the best in the industry. I had searched far and wide for something exactly like Prayogshaala but found nothing so extensively well structured, functional and sensitive to my needs. A lot many girls had applied and I consider myself lucky to have been selected for this really eventful, informative, immersive and fun-filled experience.

So, the program is a complete experience in itself and thus, consisted of a broad category of topics for personal, professional and intellectual growth

Takeaways from day 1: met my cohort batchmates for the first time and made new friends, found my life’s new mantra “inhale courage, exhale fear” and learned some dicey moves in self defense 101 (ง’̀-’́)ง

Takeaways from day 2: we were taught best practices and tools to be used for resume writing and made myself a portfolio using GitHub pages

Takeaways from day 3: I remember how I used to be a little reluctant to speak my mind or wasn’t spontaneous enough in speaking at the right time, which made me lose quite some opportunities is life, so this session worked that muscle

Takeaways from day 4: I discovered how design thinking is the core of any successful project. It made me a divergent, an explorer, a problem solver and ready for the creative economy

Takeaways from day 5: #IAmRemarkable workshop taught me personal branding, self-care and to celebrate my achievements because I earned it!

Takeaways from day 6: I was finally graduated. All the girls exchanged their experiences, their thoughts for the future and made promises to be there for each other which was so empowering!!

Over the course of the bootcamp, we were made into groups and assigned various tasks and projects. My team and I built a personal home AI, a chatbot named Jordan which you can check out right here

In closing, I would definitely recommend you to get this experience for yourself and benefit from this highly curated program. I also want to take the time to thank Lakshya Sivaramakrishnan for coming up with such a program. She has been an inspiration and I have totally grown to admire her !! Kudos to all my batchmates for being such good sport the entire duration of the program!! The registrations have closed as such but you can get in touch with me and I would be happy to give a referral.
